Every round is dealt from the whole glossary, so someone who wants to learn one area, say Kubernetes or identity, gets it mixed in with AWS services and LLM terms. Let a player choose what a round asks about:

  • Topics: one or more of the glossary's tags (kubernetes, identity, messaging, …).
  • Kinds: one or more of the terms' kinds (service, software, standard, concept, …).

A term is in the round if it matches any chosen topic and any chosen kind. Choosing nothing means everything, as now.

Things to settle:

  • Practice rounds only. Today's round is the same for everyone so the boards compare like with like. A filtered round would be a practice round (StartPractice) and reach no board.
  • Wrong answers. similar already prefers terms of the same kind and topic. Should wrong answers stay inside the selection, or may they come from outside it when it is too small to give three good ones?
  • Small selections. Some question kinds have few subjects (counterparts exist only for AWS and Google Cloud services, expansions only for abbreviations). A narrow selection may not fill ten questions, so the round could be shorter, or skip kinds it can't fill, or the page could show how many terms a selection has before starting.
  • Entry points. The glossary's topic filter could link straight to a quiz on the same topics.
  • Both languages for the new controls, and keyboard use, as for the rest of the site.
