Terms waiting to be added to the glossary in a batch. Tick them off, or move them to "Decided against" with a reason, as batches land. Each card still needs an edge that holds everywhere (README: Glossary), so the likely links are noted where known.

Requested

  • ADR, Architecture Decision Record (concept, Architecture). A short record of one decision, its context and its consequences, kept in the repository. Link to find: Monolith/Microservices are the classic ADR subject, but an edge has to hold for every ADR.

Named in a text but without a card

Each becomes a link where it is already mentioned.

  • JavaScript (Node.js, TypeScript): TypeScript extends it; Node.js runs it.
  • Kafka (Java): alternative to RabbitMQ; written in Java.
  • Nginx (FrankenPHP): alternative to Caddy and Traefik.
  • PHP-FPM (FrankenPHP): alternative to FrankenPHP; uses PHP.
  • WordPress (PHP, CrowdSec): written in PHP.
  • Spring Boot (Java): written in Java; alternative to Django and Laravel.
  • Ruby on Rails (MVC): implements MVC and ORM. Needs Ruby too.
  • Eloquent and Laravel Octane (Laravel's notes): part of Laravel; Eloquent implements ORM, Octane works with FrankenPHP. These might be better as notes than cards.
  • Presidio (LiteLLM's note): works with PII.
  • Active Directory (Keycloak, LDAP): implements LDAP.
  • VS Code and Cursor (Continue): Continue is a VS Code extension.
  • Loki (Grafana): Grafana works with it.
  • Apigee (GCP API Gateway).
  • TensorRT-LLM and SGLang (NVIDIA Dynamo, llm-d): alternatives to vLLM.
  • Packer and Nomad (HCL): use HCL; written in Go.
  • Envoy (Coraza).
  • PyTorch (Python, TPU): uses Python.
  • OpenAPI (FastAPI, GCP API Gateway): an abbreviation today; as a standard card, FastAPI and API Gateway would link to it.

From the stack discussion (#32)

  • SSE, Server-Sent Events: alternative to WebSocket.
  • GraphQL and SOAP: alternatives to REST, which would need a card of its own first.
  • Elixir, C#/.NET, Ruby: languages, each needing software in the glossary written in it.

Business vocabulary (waits on #34 and #29)

A new Business topic in the same graph. Settle first whether the daily quiz round includes it.

  • SaaS (an abbreviation today), B2B, B2C, ERP, CRM (abbreviations since #32), PRD.
  • GDPR (abbreviation): a card next to PII.
  • UX (abbreviation): only if a design topic appears.

Decided against

  • MDM: outside the glossary's field.
